Cooking classes in Paris

A friend from Brisbane – Mary Anne in the middle picture below was taking a cooking class with Paule, here at the stove. Paule invited me to join them at lunch. I got there before it ended so was able to take these photos.

For those who have not read my posts for the last two years I always return to my friend’s cooking school in Paris. The business name is Promenades Gourmandes and Paule specialises in taking people shopping and then returning to her apartment’s beautiful kitchen to prepare a meal from the ingredients bought earlier.

On the menu today at Paule’s Lapin a recipe from the north of France – rabbit with dried fruit and spices. You have to do a class to get this recipe. 

A wonderful soup full of flavour from the variety of mushrooms in the markets this autumn. After the mushrooms cooked Paule blended the soup and sprinkled with herbs to serve.

A tarte of two colour plums, note the fine pastry that just melts in your mouth, it is Paule’s special family recipe. If you plan a trip to Paris you really should get in touch with her and organise a class.

I do like the creamy white china ware, it is quite fine and has a handmade look to it.

A class with Paule will be a wonderful insight into a Parisian’s lifestyle, you will learn much and enjoy her company.

    Hi Roz, it’s Saturday morning here in Sydney, and I’m sitting in front of my computer for my weekly treat of leisurely reading through your posts. Thank you for your dedicated posting – it is so wonderful to be able to stroll through your adventures each weekend (I save them up and look forward to them all week – a bit like saving crackling until the end of the meal.. :)!

    I put Dan Lepard (UK baker) onto your site this week – he was looking for interesting things to do in Paris. He was very chuffed, and is planning to take in the André Kertész exhibition on your recco. I was personally fascinated with your post on Les Invalides and this one on Paule’s cooking class – you’ve posted about them before, and they always look soooo enjoyable!

      Thanks Celia, just touched down in Sydney. On the day we were leaving our apartment (2 days ago) we finally went into the artisan Boulanger association that was next door to us and they gave us bread they had just baked! chuffed about being able to pass advice to Dan. roz

    Oh my, that kitchen and that food look rather amazing. (I need mushroom soup now…and a piece of that fruit tart!!). That cooking school would be a lovely way to explore Paris. I will have to keep it in mind if we manage to get there.
