We headed to the fishing town of Cascais for our first cooking class in Portugal. Today most people visit Cascais for swimming in its ocean but we had food on our mind. We had a special class arranged just for us. It was in the modern new kitchen set up for cooking classes in an original villa owned by the hotel, and everything was first rate as befitting its status as a member of the Small Luxury Hotel Group. Our chef teacher was the Executive Chef of the hotel.
It was the first class for my group and as a bonding exercise it worked well. We rolled up our sleeves and had a go at anything the chef suggested.
We drank wine as we worked, laughed and pumped the chef for special tips and information about the food, techniques, or how he acquired a perfect English accent and anything else he cared to answer.
